tastes of home...
Submitted by Denise Ho on Mon, 07/08/2006 - 14:44.Hello all!
Just here to tell everyone what I'll be doing for my vlog...although most of my ideas are still in development!
Anyhow, since there're practically no restrictions to what we can blog about, I've decided to go with something I absolutely enjoy doing - eating!
Food has always been an important part of my life; my country's culture - be it to celebrate a birthday, good grades, or even to get out of a lousy mood.
So, being an international student who's been living in Perth on a budget for the past two and a half years, I've managed to track down some of the best (and more importantly, possibly the cheapest) Asian eating places around Perth. Nothing can be more comforting than a taste of home when you're far away from home!
LIVE. LIFE.
Submitted by Meng Zhao on Sun, 06/08/2006 - 20:15.Life will never be the same way if I haven't made the decision coming to Perth.
I am always wondering whether this decision is correct, what I can achieve, where I am going...Vaguely flashing from time to time, the answers seem right floating in the air yet I am unable to touch. People say that the excitement of life originates from its unknowns and I start realizing that’s right. I shouldn’t have bothered that much seeking the answers, after all, life should be experienced.
With 19 months left and teeny tiny chance of coming back, I think I’d better take this opportunity recording different aspects of life in Perth as international student(s). Nothing to compare with the past, everything is expected to be amazingly new and fresh.
Hedda's Blog: My favourite locations in Freo & Perth
Submitted by Hedda Koenig on Sun, 06/08/2006 - 11:54.Hi there,
Well - I sort of brainstormed for quite a while so I finally came up with the idea of doing my video blog about my favourite places around Fremantle and Perth in order to show my friends back home in Germany how beautiful and exciting it is over here... ! Guess I will have to nominate these places (e.g. Monument Hill which is a war memorial on a - as the name tell-tales already
- hill, which has the most awesome view over Fremantle, the port, the ocean and one can even see the 'skyscrapers' of Perth...) So it will be in a report-sort-of-style. Should be interesting I hope.
So this is the 'rough' draft and I will get more precise in the near future... !
Accounts Enabled
Submitted by Peter Morse on Thu, 03/08/2006 - 20:39.Hi All,
Your accounts have now been enabled on this site and you should have received an email with your username and password login details. If you haven't then I will post them on the webCT iGen site for you. Please keep them confidential. Any abuse of access will severely compromise your ability to participate effectively in this unit - we must be very careful about spammers and unwarrented access.
Before you start your proposal look around the "blogosphere" or "vlogosphere" (eg. http://community.vlogmap.org/ ) to get some inspiration - there's lots of good (and not so good) stuff out there.

Getting the Site Configured
Submitted by Peter Morse on Tue, 25/07/2006 - 19:09.Hi Everyone,
This is my first post to the iGeneration site and I'm still working through some of the technical processes whereby we can manage the content that you will be submitting during the course of this semester (semester 2, 2006).
Drupal is a very powerful content management system, and will give you great insight into how to establish your own videoblogging facility as well as ask some serious questions about how "participatory culture" can be conformed by those who enact it.
You will need to understand that the site itself is dynamic - a work in progess - that only gets richer and more interesting the more we all actively work with it.
Looking forward to meeting everyone this Thursday (27/7/06) afternoon and seeing where we can go from there.
Important note: as this is essentially a cutting-edge experiment in how to run a unit using new and opensource software technologies (not to mention that you might want to use mobile phones) - there will be a few hiccups along the way - so I can only ask you to be patient and to pitch in yourself to help iron-out the bugs. Patience and participation is most definitely a virtue.
