Shiok Mate Ep 5
In this next episode of SHIOK, MATE!, we discover the tastes of the Spice Islands of Indonesia.
Indonesia's 17,508 islands have attracted global interest throughout its history, mainly because of its unique location among ancient trading routes that are also rich in botanical resources and spices. The country’s cuisine is said to have influences from India, the Middle East, China and even Europe, from which Spanish and Portuguese traders brought in New World produce even before the Dutch came to colonize most of Indonesia. The result of this long history of international contact has been a diverse palate of exotic foods from all over these islands.
In this episode I tried to talk a little bit about the ambience of the restaurant, as this place was undeniably more well-decorated than most of the other restaurants I’ve visited so far. I guess that’s what made the dining experience here so pleasant, given the simplicity of the dishes ordered.
