Kenneth case Log 1

The initial of what will be eight logs chronicling my investigation into the disappearance of Ms Sarah Kenneth. This log examines her last known whereabouts.

Hello members of the press. Have been having a few problems in the actual posting of my video blog for some inexplicable reason, but hopefully I won't have any further complications. Fingers crossed. This technology didn't even exist when I was a lad, unlike other things. I'm becoming too: old/impatient/bloody minded/narcisstic to care to spend time on matters technological.

Have shot my first log, which is mostly a brief of the case and Ms Kenneth's last known whereabouts. Next week hopefully I will be able to commence interrogating witnesses and suspects. The Police Minister is constantly on my back at the moment about needing to bring this case to a conclusion as quickly as possible due to a fear of scaring students away from this university. I personally feel a succesful and well thought out investigation will maximise chances of gaining a conviction, and is thus of paramount importance, but as usual the higherups are more interested in public relations. I hate public service politics but its what a detective has to deal with in this day and age. That, along with worm infested, month old cinamon doughnuts, not those fancy iced ones. We are on a government salary after all, bribes not withstanding.

In preparation for the press conference at 4pm today I have been pondering how this video logging technology can be exploited and ill used, as the relatively easy access to this technologies for every Tom, Dick and Jane means that a large amount of unsourced, defamatory material can be posted. No offence to the members of the press who are reading this blog, but journalism is already murky and biased enough when we know exactly whois writing it and the investigations they have undertaken, let alone posts composed by anomyous web 'bloggers' who have a zero credibility factor. The pitfalls of 'citizen' journalism.

Detective Larze is on the line to brief me on a new case so I had better wrap this blog up. I'll see you vultures at the press conference in just over an hour. I can't wait. [Note: in case any of you dimwits didn't pick up on that last comment, I was being sarcastic.]

Investigation into the disappearance of Ms Sarah Kenneth

Submitted by Shannon ONeill on Tue, 08/08/2006 - 11:02.

I propose that I conduct an investigation into the disappearance of twenty one year old UWA student Ms Sarah Kenneth on the night of June 1 2006. Each two or three minute, maximum six and a half minute blogs will consist of footage of the interrogation of key suspects, such as friends, and other students seen near her the last time she was sighted, and shots of the exterior of the Reid Library where she was last seen at 9pm that night, as well as the nearby Arts building.

I will enquire about their knowledge of the circumstances of that night, and what they may have heard or seen. What was their relationship to the student? What were their reasons for being on campus late at night?
