Film Exploits Episode 4 : Monuments & Sculptures

Hello!

This episode, I went around the city to search for any forms of monuments or sculptures. As all of you know, they are everywhere in the city. Along the side of the road and even in parks. This was an experience for me because as a foreigner, I was amazed by art works that are just resting next to buildings and next to the road.

After my last episode, which was getting inspiration, I found a handbook on digital photography. I read throguh it and tried to follow the tips that they suggests. I also learnt how to use make use of my digital camera more rather than just use the automatic function.

Taking picture of monuments and sculptures is not always easy. They can either look dull and boring if you take it in a simple view. There are alot of things to consider while doing this, like the view and the lighting. I had to consider the lighting as it was a cloudy day and include the building in the snap to add depth.

I concentrated on the focusing and the depth of field for the waterfall shot. I had to find an angle view that will suit my experimentation of this technique. By taking the shots from the corner and by adjusting the focus, I was able to make the corner sharp and blurred out the background.

Sometimes you can find hidden treasures like this wooden structure, I had to scour through a public park to find it. To take these pictures, I had to reduce the exposure so that the natural lighting brings out the texture of the wood grains. As you can see, I made the little wooden person as thoguh it is big. This technique includes focusing.

It is important to transfer meanings into pictures. The last venue was interesting. This kebab looking monument signifies the 1995 proportion of 145 billion value of sales. oh and the kebab...they're actually rocks! Sorry to disappoint!! Sticking out tongue
