Week 5: To Do

This applies to everyone!

Please make a post in your vlog, detailing the following:

Your Proposal for Your Research Vlog.

Include: title of vlog; (think of this like a movie or website title - use it as a unique identifier - and don't be boring - like "my vlog about fishing" - something short, sharp, memorable AND descriptive is far better.)

Author(s); (only if you intend to collaborate on a vlog)

Theme; a general description of the theme - 10 words or less. Be succinct.

Synopsis; more detail - about 50 to 100 words.

Proposed Activities; what you intend to do, where you will go, who you might interview, how you want it to look (i.e. some consideration of genre or style.)

Timeline. You'll start vlogging after your week 6 "pitch" - you'll need to state what you will do (a task you set yourself) each week for the next 7 weeks.

Vlog entries per week should meet the following minimum requirements.

1] 1 video entry per week. This should be at least 1 minute long, but can run for up to 5 minutes. A good medium would be 2-3 minutes, composed of various scenes you have edited together. Production values are important. Good visual style. Good audio. Be engaging.

2] A minimum of 100 words per vlog post. This should critically reflect upon your activities, set the scene, describe what you are doing and why. Keep it semi-formal, as appropriate to a research vlog. Informal remarks can always be posted in comments and forums.

I'm looking for energy, enterprise and creativity - how interesting your vlog is will become obvious by how often it is accessed. However, popularity is not the aim: it's a question of how incisive, critical and interesting your work is. Why should someone who comes to this site be interested in you and your vlog? What is the political. ideological or aesthetic "position" that you are taking? Who is your audience?

Because there is not really an established "genre" of the vlog you have great freedom to explore how you can represent your ideas.

Most important: BE IMAGINATIVE.
